Earning money online is something we all want to do. At first the idea is exhilarating! Who would not want to make money for things they already do or by clicking around a little online?
But then reality sets in.
That reality is worrying what is real, what is a scam, what is worth the time. That is when sites like this site, make finding extra cash online easy! I have been reading this and other blogs by Anna for a while now and although I have been working from home for several years myself, I am still amazed regularly by the new and different ways to make some extra cash.
Recently I ran across a site that will pay you for sharing links!
And no, its not one of those marketing jobs, where you spam every message board with their links. You actually share whatever link you want, wherever you want and be paid for it!
AdF.ly will pay you to share your favorite links online by using their URL shortener and sharing the shortened URL! A URL shortener is just a way to keep from sharing a long string of URL text. Sometimes the actual URL is so long it takes up several lines of a page, doesn't fit where you need it to or shares details like your referral IDs.
AdF.ly will give you a shortened URL code that will still go to the same place, but it keeps an AdF.ly banner across the top of the shared page. Or, sometimes will show an Ad before taking you to the final URL location. This is why they pay you to use their URL shortener!
For an example, let's say I want to share with you a link to an incredibly expensive laptop computer by Apple at Best Buy's website. I would share this incredibly long link:
Or I could shorten the URL link using AdF.ly and it would take you to the same results, only it has a banner across the top of the page that holds an ad.
However, as usual, there are good and bad things about sharing Adfly's shortened URLS. Let me share with you what I know and my final opinion on using this service as a means to make some extra cash online.
There are a lot of people online who are desperate to make money for little work. Those people find out about AdF.ly and begin spreading spam all over the web using the URL shortener service. This has hurt AdFly's credibility! In fact, Facebook has chosen to block AdFly URLs because of the amount of spamming people have done!
When you agree to sign up for AdFly, you agree not to spam!!! This means, don't share your links inappropriately or excessively. Share common decency and only share links when it is genuinely contributing in a positive way to a discussion, question, article or whatever appropriate. Be honest, thoughtful and helpful and you should not have to worry about accidentally spamming people.
Sometimes when sharing a link using the Adfly service, you may annoy some of those clickers. More ads to view, it may slow down the time it takes to load the page and could disrupt the overall experience. Therefore, be choosy when deciding if you want to use the Adfly shortener or use the options Adfly gives you when you create the shortened URL!
As an Adfly member, when you create a shortened URL, you are given three options.
–You can choose to make the link direct the viewer to a page with an ad first, where they can either skip or view the full ad before the original page will load. This option is more invasive and therefore pays more.
–You can choose to make the link direct the viewer straight to the page only with an ad banner across the top of the screen, which can be closed and viewed regularly. This option is more discreet but pays less.
–You can choose to remove all advertising and only shorten the link- you don't earn money this way but is nice if you simply want to shorten a URL for your own purposes.
With all of this mind, if you have a perfect idea for using AdF.ly URL shortening service to make some extra money, whether by using the URL links in your own blog (there is a simple plugin for WordPress users to make that simple) or are active in communities where you know this will be accepted. However you choose- you may need to know some of the details about pay.
How Much Does Adfly Pay to Share their Shortened URLs?
It depends on the country you are located. Adfly breaks it down by country on their site. I will break down and explain how it pays for those in the United States:
If you share the shortened URLs that first direct the viewers to a page of advertising before taking them to the final destination, called Interstitials (can you say it?), you have a higher earning potential. They pay per view of the ads through their links. Adfly says you can expect your earnings to range between $3-5 per 1000 views.
If you use the more discreet option where the viewer sees an ad at the top of the screen, instead of a full page, you should expect to earn 50 to 89 cents per 1000 views- quite a difference!
How Does Adfly Pay Me?
Once you have made at least $5 in your Adfly account, they will automatically pay to your PayPal or AlertPay account once a month.
Does AdFly offer Referral Pay?
Yes! If you share your referral link and others sign up to make money using the URL Shortening Service, you will earn a bonus of 20% of whatever they earn!! That is a big payout if you get the right people to sign up!
My final opinion of AdFly–
This is one of those things that is just not for everyone! It does not pay a lot and can be viewed as spam by many sites or viewers. Some people may find the ads obtrusive and annoying. I would not be a pest to others and post the shortened URLs inappropriately. But for many people, this is an ideal way to make some extra cash! When used the right way and appropriately, AdFly could be a good way for you to make money online. Considering you can share whatever link you want, given it follows Adfly's Terms of Service, and make money for the ads viewed, it is a simple and easy way to bring in a few bucks here and there and allows you to be flexible and creative in how to use this money making opportunity!
