You may not always get paid for product testing, but you will get a free product to keep and try. I've done my fair share of product testing and gotten a lot of free goodies as a result. I've received everything from shampoo, K-cups, garbage bags, an electronic toothbrush, and makeup. In most cases, the products I received were sent out to me before they were even available for sale in the stores.
Companies are willing to send these products out to “guinea pigs” like us so that they can get a general idea of how well the product will go over once it's released. And if there are any potential problems that they weren't aware of before, these can be dealt with beforehand. All they want in return for sending you the product is for you to try it and let them know what you think.
If you want to start doing some product testing, here are the top places I recommend to get started. Note that some of these offer market research surveys in addition to product tests that you can earn from.
- She Speaks
- House Party
- Brand Institute
- Mom's Meet
There are also many paid survey panels that might occasionally send you a product out to test, but the sites mentioned above are primarily just product testing. Pinecone Research is probably the best out there that does both surveys and product testing because they pay you for testing the products. I personally have experience with BzzAgent, Smiley360, She Speaks, and Naturally Savvy.
Update – I made a new list of good product testing sites. Check it out here.
