Everyone has known for a long time that eBay is a great place to not only shop, but also use for things to sell around the house. And if you need money in a hurry and list your items under Buy It Now or a short auction, there's a good chance you can actually get paid the same day.
But what can you sell? You might think you don't have anything you could sell, but you'd be wrong. In fact, there are probably all kinds of things lying around your house that you could put up for sale on eBay for some fast cash.
10 Things To Sell Around The House
Books
Everyone has some books lying around. If you have some that you haven't picked up in ten years and don't really need to keep, list it on eBay for a quick profit. Keep in mind that rare books and first editions tend to go for a lot more, so do a little research to see if the book(s) you're wanting to sell are worth big bucks before you list them.
CDs
Yes, everyone is going the digital route these days, but that doesn't mean some people don't still collect music CDs. If you primarily listen to music on your iPod and no longer have any real need for that massive CD collection that has been gathering dust for the last five years, consider putting them up for sale. There may be people out there actively looking for some of the CDs you have. This is one of the easiest household items to sell for quick cash.
Clothes
If you or anyone else in your family has clothes that are no longer worn or no longer fit, take some good pictures of them and list them for sale. Be honest about any rips, stains, or missing buttons the clothes might have so you don't end up with buyers feeling ripped off. Clothes are always popular on eBay.
Video Games
Video games and used consoles are another hot item on eBay. These are also items that people tend to grow tired of and/or get burnt out on quickly. If you have any games or consoles lying around your house that no one plays anymore, you can easily sell them for fast cash on eBay.
DVDs
If you've started a digital movie collection and no longer have any need for your DVDs, you can sell the ones that are in good shape on eBay. Many people still prefer to collect actual DVDs rather than rely on a digital library, so there is definitely a market for these.
VHS Tapes
If you actually have VHS tapes lying around, you can try to sell these on eBay, too. Almost no one watches these anymore, but there are still people who like to collect them. And if you are lucky enough to own a VHS tape of a movie that has never been released on DVD, you may be able to sell it for quite a bit more. And if you're interested in things to buy and sell to make money, VHS tapes are pretty cheap at thrift stores.
Baby Stuff
If you've ever had a baby, then you know that your baby clothes and accessories are only useful for a very short period of time. Babies grow fast — so fast in fact that most of the clothes and accessories that are no longer useful to you are still in pristine condition! And there are new parents and parents-to-be that are always actively searching eBay for great deals on gently used baby items.
Electronics
Are you planning to upgrade any of your current electronics or gadgets? Maybe get a more powerful computer, laptop, camera or DVD player? If this is the case and you have older electronics that are still in good, operable shape, you may be able to sell them on eBay for some fast cash. Electronics are always in demand.
Collectible Items
Collectibles almost always do well on eBay. You can sell stamps, coins, vintage toys, old magazines or pretty much anything that a lot of people collect. Do your research however before you list anything like this. See what other people are charging and make sure that you're asking for enough money. These are items that it would be hard to let go of when you know you aren't getting what the item is worth. It may even be a good idea to set a reserve price on items like that just to be sure you don't have to take a bid that doesn't quite meet your expectations.
Hobby Items
We've all been guilty of it. Picked up a new hobby, musical instrument, sport or other activity that we just did not follow through with. This often means that we've also got lots of accessories related to that hobby, sport or activity lying around the house, collecting dust. These are excellent items to get rid of on eBay!
