If you dream of working from home, you'll be excited to know you can get paid for online ESL (English Second Language) tutoring. There are currently a ton of companies hiring for this. In today's post, I'm breaking down for you who is hiring, what they pay, and what you need in order to qualify.

Note that most of these companies do require you have a bachelor's degree, or at least be enrolled in college. Some will also require a TEFL or TESOL certificate. However, I will be listing a few that don't have these requirements.

Good luck if you apply for anything listed below!

10 Online ESL Teaching Opportunities

1 – VIPKid

It's possible to earn between $15 and $22 hourly working from home for VIPKid. They are open to people in the US (except for California) and also Canada. You must have at least a Bachelor's degree to apply here.

VIPKid offers a contract opportunity (six months). However, many teachers get their contracts renewed with good performance.

Go here to apply at VIPKid or read our VIPKid review first.

2 – EF Education First

As an online ESL teacher for EF Education First, you could earn up to $20 an hour working from your home. You must live in the United States to qualify. EF Education First also requires a minimum 40 hour TEFL Certificate or equivalent (provided by beginning of contract term), and a completed Bachelor's degree.

Go here to apply at EF Education First.

3 – Cambly

This is an ideal option if you are interested in ESL tutoring, but you have no past experience. Cambly does not require a bunch of credentials in order to accept you as a tutor.

Cambly pays $0.17 USD per minute ($10.20/hour), and they send your earnings every Monday via Paypal. You need no experience to qualify, and you get to work whenever you want. You must be a native English speaker to work with Cambly.

4 – Magic Ears

This company accepts online ESL tutors from both the United States and Canada. Most tutors who work with them earn between $18 and $26 hourly.

You must have either a bachelor's degree or be enrolled in a university program to qualify. Magic Ears also offers a 120 hour TESOL certification course for just $20 that you'll need to get through prior to starting work. Their rate for this course is much cheaper than what you'll find in other places online.

5 – GogoKid

GogoKid is another ESL tutoring company advertising good pay. They currently claim you can earn between $14 and $25 hourly if you're accepted as one of their tutors. Better yet, you also get to set your own schedule.

You do not have to live in a specific country to qualify to work with them, but you do need to have a bachelor's degree.

Go here to sign up to teach for GogoKid.

6 – DadaABC

DadaABC looks for ESL tutors from all over the world, so it doesn't matter where you live. However, like most of these companies, you do need to have a bachelor's degree.

The website doesn't mention pay from what I can see.

Go here to sign up to teach for DadaABC.

7 – SayABC

SayABC pays $17 for every 40-minute ESL class you teach. You are free to set your own schedule with this company as well.

You must have a bachelor's degree to qualify to teach. However, you can work from anywhere in the world.

Go here to sign up at SayABC.

8 – 51Talk

51Talk claims you can earn up to $22 hourly as an online ESL teacher for their company.

To qualify, you must be a native English speaker with a neutral accent, have a BA degree or be currently enrolled in a university program, have experience in teaching or tutoring, have experience in the US or Canadian education systems.

9 – Palfish

You can work at home for Palfish with no past experience or teaching certifications. They have a free talk/live stream option for their classes that makes this possible.

If you do have a TESOL, TEFL, or teaching certificate, you can teach their kid's course and earn as much as $22 hourly. They are open to native English speakers from the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, and Canada.

10 – NiceTalk

To teach for NiceTalk, you do need a college degree, but you do not need any language teaching certificates. The pay is $0.17 per minute of time chatting with students, so some teachers are able to earn around $10 hourly.

You must be a native English speaker to work with NiceTalk.

Go here to apply if you're interested.

And this wraps up our list! You should know that these types of companies have been doing a lot of hiring over the past few years. If you fit the criteria, this could really be a good way to make side money — or even more — while you work from home.

Good luck!
