The Small Business Knowledge Center (SBKC) really wants your junk mail! And not only what you get in your mailbox, but also your junk email. 🙂
I don't know about you, but I'm happy to cart that stuff off to anyone who actually wants it.
It may seem weird that anyone would want to pay you for what we essentially see as “junk”, but SBKC is interested in it because they study marketing and marketing trends. So receiving these mailings from us helps them in their research efforts.
Below is more detail on how it all works. But, before we get into it, you should know that this opportunity is only available to US residents age 18 or older.
How does SBKC pay for junk mail?
They actually pay you in points for your junk mail, and you can redeem these for prepaid Visa gift cards. You can use Visa gift cards at any retailer you choose.
You must have at least 2000 points in your account to request a Visa gift card. Depending on how much junk mail and email you have to send in, you could potentially earn $20 every six or so weeks.
How many points do you get for your mailings at SBKC?
You can get up to 100 points for each mailing. Certain types of mailings pay more than others do.
If you happen to own a business, you can earn more points that people who do not. You will need to mention you are a business owner when you sign up so they know.
What kind of mailings do they accept?
This changes frequently, but they prefer things like insurance mailings, stock, telecommunications (satellite and cell phone providers), credit card solicitations, brochures, newsletters, and so forth.
When you sign up, they have a list of everything they are looking for and sometimes they offer double points each month for certain types of mailings.
What they don't normally want are catalogs, coupons, information on sales from stores, and things like that.
How do you actually get your mail to SBKC in order to get paid?
They will send you some prepaid envelopes to use. Just put your junk mail in them and drop them in your mailbox whenever.
You can also forward your spam email (the insurance and other type stuff mentioned above, not scam lottery type stuff) to their secure email address, and you'll get points for that stuff too.
Should you be worried about your privacy?
SBKC claims to shred and recycle all your mailings. There are people who have been doing this for several years that have apparently not had any issues.
However, if you don't feel comfortable with it, you shouldn't sign up. Only do what you feel comfortable doing.
How can you sign up for SBKC?
The link to sign up for this panel is here. Good luck and please come back to let me know how it's going for you! Please keep in mind that they may not need anyone in your zip code. If they don't, they will put you on a wait list.
We have a list of other ways to get paid with mail if you're interested!
